Career Guidance For schools

As a level 7 qualified careers advisor, I can help secondary schools across Kent and South East London to meet Gatsby Benchmark 8: Personal guidance and Gatsby Benchmark 3: Addressing the needs of every pupil (CDI, 2020).

I offer personal career guidance interviews to students of all ages, including those in Years 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13.

Whether your students require career guidance on options at 16 or 18, or future plans, I can help.

I also offer career guidance following Morrisby assessments, assisting students to reflect on and make use of assessment results.

Personal career guidance can be delivered face-to-face in schools, or remotely via telephone.

Once you have booked my services, you are welcome to share this introduction pack to help your students prepare for their personal career guidance meeting.

Career Learning & Development (CLD) Workshops

I am passionate about designing and facilitating group- and activity-based career learning and development (CLD) workshops.

My interactive group work sessions can be tailored to all year groups and group sizes. They include:

CV Writing:

A one-hour interactive session designed to equip students with skills and strategies to develop and enhance their CVs. Suitable for students in Years 9, 10, 11, 12, or 13. This workshop can help schools to meet Gatsby Benchmark 4: Linking curriculum learning to careers, as content can support writing elements of key stage 3 and 4 English programmes.

Introduction to LinkedIn:

A one-hour workshop introducing Year 12 or 13 students to LinkedIn, including its benefits, and how to build a strong profile. This workshop can help schools to meet Gatsby Benchmark 4: Linking curriculum learning to careers, as content can support the writing elements of national curriculum English programmes at key stages 3 and 4.

Unlocking the hidden job market:

A one-hour interactive workshop to help Year 12 or year 13 students understand what the hidden job market is, how it differs from the ‘overt’ job market, and how they can access it to find non-advertised roles. This workshop includes content to help students realise the power of their personal networks, and how they can help to support career growth.

Decision making:

A 30-minute or one-hour interactive groupwork session to prepare Year 8 or 9 students to prepare for selecting their GCSE options. The workshop aims to help students understand how they make decisions, and offers strategies to help them improve their career decision-making skills. Timings can be tailored to each school’s needs.

CV Review Appointments:

I can support Year 11, 12, and 13 students to review and improve their CVs in readiness for a competitive job market.

Personal Statement Review Appointments:

I can also work with Year 13 students to review their personal statement, offering practical tips and guidance to help them improve their drafts.
